Two new candidates, Mark Hurt and Matt Carey, joined the crowded race to replace County Executive David Zook as the filing period closes today at 5 p.m.—GOP officials set the deadline for hopefuls submitting their applications. The special election, with a candidate open house and credentialing at Ridgeline High School in Millville on Sept. 11, will decide who serves out Zook’s term under party voting rules.
