  • A new $26M gaming and entertainment venue will open in mid-February just beyond the border near Evanston, offering Wasatch Front residents a closer option to enjoy gaming, live music, dining, and a Dunkin’ outlet than the alternatives. ECONOMY NEWS

  • Cache Valley Chamber of Commerce announced its speakers for the Greater Cache Valley Economic Summit on Tuesday, Feb. 10 at Riverwoods Conference Center in Logan. Keynote economist Tim Mahedy and guest speakers from USU and local government will discuss economic updates and Bear Lake’s future (check-in begins at 9 a.m.).  KVNU

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Utah lawmakers debated a bill to ban cellphones from bell-to-bell use in public K-12 schools, and the committee delayed action after the discussion. The proposal would replace current limits that only restrict phones during class time.  The Herald Journal
  • Utah law enforcement is increasing DUI patrols for Super Bowl Sunday with a statewide blitz from 26 agencies and 75 additional shifts to help prevent deadly crashes, and officials urge fans to plan a sober ride before kickoff.  KVNU
