A WalletHub study released Monday ranked Utah as the 47th state for federal dependency — making it one of the least federally-dependent states.

It used data from four national agencies to show Utah’s relative self-sufficiency.

Local families in Cache Valley can breathe easier as a study found Provo among the top five most expensive cities with home prices nearly nine times local incomes, while Logan’s market remains more affordable (Cache Valley median home prices are 5.4 times median incomes).

A recent study by PropFusion using late 2024 data found Provo among the five priciest U.S. cities for home buyers due to high price-to-income ratios, while Logan and other Cache Valley communities show more manageable housing costs + healthier income ratios, offering local families relief.
