Good morning, Logan. Here's your local news at a glance for Thursday, the 20th of March.

CRIME NEWS

  • A 21-year-old man from Rexburg was arrested Tuesday evening in North Logan for an alleged hit-and-run crash that injured several people, and police subdued him with a Taser after he swung an orange object at officers—his white cargo van showed major damage and contained drug paraphernalia, and he now faces multiple felony and misdemeanor charges at Cache County Jail.  KVNU

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Major Brigham Moore, a USU alumnus, was named the 2025 Federal Engineer of the Year at an awards luncheon in Washington, D.C. He leads a team that manages more than 1,000 facilities and projects valued at over eight billion dollars and holds degrees in environmental, civil, and systems engineering.  KVNU
  • Logan City Council has asked for a study to see if a solar farm with at least 15 mega-watts of power can be built within city limits following advice from local green energy advocates. Council Chair Jeanne Simmonds and members agreed to review the study findings on July 15 — a move addressing power losses from retiring coal plants — though halted federal funding may affect the project.  Cache Valley Daily
  • The Logan Municipal Council approved a new fee schedule for the Logan River Golf Course after a public hearing on March 18 and set the new fees to take effect May 1; the increased rates for season passes, green fees and punch passes will build a reserve for planned course improvements (like upgrades to the driving range, golf carts and irrigation system) and mirror prices at nearby courses.  KVNU
