  • City officials in Logan announced that registration for spring and summer sports programs offered by the Parks + Recreation Department is now underway. Residents of all ages can sign up online to join activities including softball leagues, track club events, tennis lessons, and youth indoor soccer.  Cache Valley Daily

CRIME NEWS

  • A 22-year-old man from southern Utah was arrested on March 28 in Logan for allegedly stealing a backpack from a mechanic shop and using a stolen credit card for nearly $1,000—police said he later admitted taking the bag and now faces charges of theft and unlawful financial use.  KVNU

FINANCE NEWS

  • April is National Financial Literacy Month designed to help local residents learn about budgeting, saving, investing and debt management through award-winning programs from USU Extension. Residents can join free webinars at noon on Tuesdays and Thursdays and a live investing session on April 30 at noon—efforts aimed at building lasting financial habits.  KVNU

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Municipalities in south Cache Valley are running their own study on a new recreation center while the county study is still underway; Nibley City funded a survey that asked 4,700 residents about supporting a tax increase. Officials plan to finalize amenities and bond language by August so that voters can decide in November — initial design estimates cost $25 million and may rise to $35 million if an indoor pool is added — according to city leaders.  Cache Valley Daily
  • Some south Cache towns are running a study for a new recreation center with funding from Nibley City and help from VCBO Architecture. More than 70 percent of about 4,700 residents said they would support a tax increase of about $15 a month for a center costing between $25 million—$35 million, and plans will be finalized before the bond issue is considered in November.  KVNU
