BUSINESS NEWS

  • Lawn care businesses in Logan said they are facing challenges after Logan City added a new green waste disposal fee — a change made when the city lowered its residential fee from $5 per can to $4 per can. Operators plan to adjust their services as the fee changes increase their disposal costs.  The Herald Journal

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Residents are invited to join a Visioning Workshop at Logan City Hall from 5:30 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, April 10 to help shape a new General Plan called Logan 2045—guiding the city’s future growth and development.  Cache Valley Daily
  • In Cache County, a new law signed by Gov. Spencer Cox on March 25 adds new conditions to mail-in balloting, requiring ballots to be received by 8 p.m. on Election Day this year. Starting in 2029, voters must opt in to receive mail ballots and include the last four digits of their driver's license, state ID, or Social Security number on their envelope—an effort to boost election security.  Cache Valley Daily
  • Governor Spencer Cox signed a bill into law Friday, April 4 banning cell phone use in classrooms for Utah students next school year. Schools must either set their own rules or follow a default ban—this law takes effect July 1 and allows exceptions for emergencies, special plans, or medical needs.  Cache Valley Daily
