Good morning, Logan. Here's your local news at a glance for Friday, the 11th of April.

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Cache County schools in Logan already updated their cell phone policies last year, so students will face few changes when the new state law bans cell phone use in classrooms this school year. The law now gives teachers more power to enforce the ban except in emergencies—such as a medical need or a threat.  Cache Valley Daily

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • CETC executive director Sandra Smith said that plans for major Giving Machine donations are underway while USU’s veterinarian school received official accreditation on Apr 9—officials are now investigating claims that Utah’s prison mail contract is a scam. This three-part update marks key actions in donation planning, educational achievement, and contract review.  Cache Valley Daily
  • Logan City Light & Power and Brigham City Public Power earned national awards in 2024 for reliable service, the American Public Power Association confirmed after reviewing outage data.
