  • Woodsy Art Cafe at 53 East 100 North in Logan is hosting hands-on art events as part of its month-long celebration + interactive paint sessions will take place from April 17–19 for local residents.  KVNU

CULTURE NEWS

  • Robert Bissland (a Cache Valley native) earned a Platinum Award in the Graphis International Poster Competition for his Jazz Kick’s Band memorial concert poster, making him one of 10 winners from 34 countries. He also received Gold and Silver Awards for his previous local designs.  Cache Valley Daily
  • A new Velveteen Rabbit ballet is scheduled to debut in Logan to support children's literacy — a program inspired by a January report from the Kem C. Gardner Policy Institute that found only half of Utah's third graders were reading at grade level.  The Herald Journal

ECONOMY NEWS

  • A WalletHub study ranks Logan as the 30th best small city for startups, praising strong small-business growth and easy access to financing but noting fewer industry choices and office space challenges. The report finds 26 cities from Utah and Idaho in the national top 100.  KVNU

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Northern Utah educators can apply for a $1,000 grant for classroom projects open until May 20. Mountain America Credit Union and the Show Up for Teachers initiative will notify winners in June and honor them at a conference on July 9 at the Expo Center.  Cache Valley Daily

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • U.S. Rep. Blake Moore proposed the MATCH Act on April 9 to create state-led digital talent marketplaces that match workers to jobs using verified skills + credentials. Co-sponsored by Rep. Burgess Owens, the proposal aims to modernize hiring and support workers across Utah.  Cache Valley Daily

HEALTH NEWS

  • A national study found Utahns' anxiety increased 18 percent from 2022 to 2024, with over 33 percent of adults affected in 2024—above the national average; Dr. Ash Bhatt of the Legacy Healing Center said financial hardship and social isolation contribute to the rise and treatment includes therapy and lifestyle changes.  KVNU
