  • Logan residents can visit the Cache Valley Gardeners Market starting Saturday, May 10, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at 199 North Main Street behind the Historic Cache County Courthouse—125 vendors will offer locally grown produce, crafts, face painting and diverse foods from food trucks.  KVNU

CRIME NEWS

  • A West Jordan woman, Vanessa Patino Nevarez, was sentenced in Logan’s 1st District Court to 30 days in jail—she pleaded guilty to stealing over $10,000 in construction equipment from a Cache Valley contractor in 2022 and is now on probation.  Cache Valley Daily

CULTURE NEWS

  • Logan resident graphic designer Devin Mathews launched his SuprOrdinary YouTube channel featuring a rebrand of the local sandwich shop Logan’s Heroes—he said the project marks a fresh creative path that has already moved many local viewers and fellow artists. The channel, which grew from his work with major companies, will continue to share community stories and personal journeys.  KVNU

  • Utah high schools ranked first in WalletHub’s 2024 budgeting education study by earning top marks for personal finance and economics course requirements and eighth-grade math proficiency. The report shows that Utah’s strong curriculum helps students manage money well—while other states like Idaho and Wyoming ranked lower.  KVNU
  • At the Excellence in Education Gala—held Monday at Riverwoods—Logan City School District inducted Ann Geary and Rod Tueller into its Hall of Fame amid standing applause.  The Herald Journal

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • We The People of Cache Valley held a rally in downtown Logan on May 3 to urge local residents to run for mayor and city council in Cache County’s municipal elections on November 4. The group shared filing deadline details for Utah candidates—June 2 to June 6—and provided information on local issues.  KVNU
  • On Monday, Utah was ranked the best state by U.S. News for the third straight year for its strong fiscal stability, infrastructure, and education — although it scored low in natural environment due to air and water quality concerns. Idaho came in third overall and earned high marks in economy and fiscal stability — reflecting community values similar to Utah's.  KVNU
  • U.S. News & World Report released its rankings on Monday and Utah was ranked number one for the third year, with the state excelling in fiscal stability, infrastructure, and education while struggling with natural environment issues. Governor Spencer Cox celebrated the result as Idaho, sharing similar cultural values, ranked third overall.  Cache Valley Daily
