  • Gov. Spencer Cox appointed Jefferson Moss to serve as the new head of the Office of Economic Opportunity. Moss will resign as majority leader in the Utah House on May 30 and serve as interim director until confirmed by the Utah Senate—he has served as a lawmaker since 2017 and on local government boards—and will help shape state economic policy.  Cache Valley Daily

Spencer Cox launched the GRIT initiative on May 9 to improve state government efficiency and transparency—state agencies must submit improvement projects by July 1, report measurable results, and use public feedback.
