EDUCATION NEWS

  • Bridgerland Technical College president K. Chad Campbell will retire on June 30 after a 41-year career in Utah technical education, including 11 years leading the Logan campus. This retirement signals a significant transition for the college.  KVNU
  • High school senior Jazlyn was surprised at her graduation when her father, returning from deployment in Europe, joined her — the moment went viral online. The reunion has brought joy to local families.  KVNU

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • All four lanes on Main Street will reopen this weekend as the Logan River Trail Undercrossing Project moves ahead of schedule + easing traffic for Logan drivers.  KVNU
  • Fruit farmers in 10 counties face up to 100% crop losses after April freezes. Governor Cox declared a state of emergency on May 15; the Emergency Disaster Relief Loan Program will offer 7-year loans with 0% interest for 2 years and accept applications until Nov. 15.  KVNU
  • Hyrum city officials announced water restrictions to ease drought, prohibiting daytime watering — residents can water lawns and shrubs only before 10 a.m. or after 6 p.m. for up to three nonconsecutive days weekly. Fines will apply for violations.  Cache Valley Daily
  • Governor Spencer Cox declared a state of emergency on May 15 for fruit farmers in 10 counties facing up to 100 percent crop loss, and disaster relief funds are set to help growers.  Cache Valley Daily
