A 27-year-old Logan man, Trevor Bret Aslett, was sentenced May 19 to 244 days in jail with credit for 85 days served—followed by 36 months probation—for stalking, possession of a firearm by a restricted person, controlled substance possession and violating a protective order after sending threatening messages that harassed a victim and her family, with the judge also ordering a no-contact condition.
The Utah Board of Higher Education has named a nine-member committee to lead the search for USU’s next president + the group will begin work soon.

The Utah Division of Outdoor Recreation awarded a record $23.2M in grants to fund 142 outdoor recreation projects across all 29 counties — with over $1.3M allocated to projects in Cache, Box Elder and Rich counties.
The funding came through UORG, OHVR and RTP and marked a historic milestone for public lands and local community investments.
Cache County offices and facilities will be closed on May 26 for Memorial Day to honor military members who died while serving—this closure may cause travel delays while local recreation areas offer alternative outdoor opportunities.
