CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ Renovations of the storied Caine Lyric Theatre are underway as crews update the historic venue—built after the Thatcher Opera House fire in 1912, it has served theatre enthusiasts for 112 years. More project details are expected as the work continues. The Herald Journal
- ➤ The Summerfest Arts Faire in Logan will run from June 12 to 14 at Cache County Event Center and Fairgrounds, where 167 artists, 30 food trucks and 38 performers will display their work and entertain visitors. - ➤ Bethany Neilson, with more than twenty years working with water, will become the new director of the USU Water Research Lab on July 1—she is known for her work with water data and engineering. - ➤ The field of candidates for municipal offices in Logan grew when five new hopefuls filed on June 4, raising the total to 11 for three posts including the mayor race and at-large council seats. Candidate filings closed at 5 p.m.—June 6—at the City Recorder’s Office at 290 North 100 West with no fee required. Cache Valley Daily
- ➤ Three additional candidates filed for Logan's municipal election on the final day of filings, raising the total to 14 for three positions—candidates will compete in a primary on Tuesday, Aug. 12. Mayor Holly Daines will not seek re-election as new names, including Jerritt T. Bodrero for mayor and Brian Seamons plus Greg Brooks for council, join the race. Cache Valley Daily
