- ➤ Authorities say a 45-year-old man in a bomb vest reportedly claimed he murdered his wife and fired on officers at 5 a.m. Sunday near South Cache Middle School in Hyrum, prompting SWAT teams from Logan, Brigham and Ogden to set an armed perimeter around the home—negotiators are now trying to contact the suspect. - ➤ Boston John, a mechanical engineering major at USU building unmanned aircraft at the Space Dynamics Lab, flew his first plane at age 13 and will be honored by the Astronaut Scholarship Foundation in August when a NASA astronaut presents his award. John, the only student from Utah to earn this year’s scholarship, is interning at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory to work on Chopper, a hexacopter drone designed for Mars + advancing his career in aerospace.
