  • On Friday, Logan City posted on Facebook urging residents to reduce water usage — a reminder amid hot, dry, early summer conditions — to help preserve local water supplies.  The Herald Journal

EDUCATION NEWS

  • On Monday, the Utah Board of Higher Education opened applications for a new president at Utah State University, launching a national search after former president Elizabeth Cantwell left. Officials expect to name a new leader during the 2025-26 academic year and will keep the process private until three finalists are chosen—ensuring input from students, faculty, staff, alumni and community members.  KVNU

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Tony Grove Recreation Area and Mount Naomi Wilderness in Logan will be inducted into the Old-Growth Forest Network during a ceremony at the backcountry trailhead on Tony Grove Lake Road at 12:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 27th—this event honors the areas for their beauty and biodiversity and includes a 30-minute forest bathing activity led by trained guides.  Cache Valley Daily

  • On Monday, the Utah Division of Outdoor Recreation awarded $1.5 million in grants to support 21 outdoor planning projects in 13 counties—Logan City received $41,200 for a feasibility study and wayfinding signage as part of the grant program that does not require a local financial match.  KVNU
