  • Logan City Police Department Animal Control advised residents to be cautious after multiple reports of a badger sighting near Lundstrom Park today—residents are urged to keep their distance and leash their dogs when near the animal.  Cache Valley Daily
  • Logan's Cache Community Food Pantry is not affected by federal SNAP changes even as the Food Justice Coalition may close in the next 30 days due to tighter eligibility rules and a potential 50,000 dollars budget shortfall. Pantry director Mathew Whitaker said his operation still serves 350 families weekly with ongoing donations from local grocery stores and community support.  Cache Valley Daily

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • A 37-year-old motorcyclist was critically injured in Wellsville on Friday after colliding with a dump truck near 300 West and 200 South at 1:50 p.m.—he was stabilized at the scene and airlifted to a trauma center.  Cache Valley Daily

  • Carol Foht was honored by Cache Community Connections for organizing 53 noon concerts and lectures at the Historic Logan Tabernacle this summer—she received a gift basket from Cox Honeyland during the final performance on July 30. She is already planning next year’s Christmas series to continue engaging both local and summer citizens.  Cache Valley Daily
  • LionHeart Hall in Logan will host faith-based music by award-winning musician Emily Susan Pack on Aug 9 at 7 p.m. at 480 North, 100 East — her performance will be followed by a Jell-O party with tickets sold at the door.  KVNU

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Seven Cache County entities are proposing a property tax increase and if approved the change will only raise a portion of a property tax bill instead of the whole amount. Voters will learn more details as the proposals move forward.  The Herald Journal

  • Local gardeners are advised by the USU Extension Gardeners Almanac to use simple techniques to face the recent high temperatures—planting cover crops, collecting seeds, and harvesting produce when ready.
