- ➤ Local merchants and businesses will host the free Center Street Art-Beat on Saturday, Aug. 30 from noon to 10 p.m. when Center Street closes to traffic to welcome community members with local bands, artisans, food trucks, and roughly 55 vendors to raise funds for Cache Valley for Hope. ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ Deputies were called early Tuesday morning to 14200 Stink Creek Road near the Logan City Landfill where they found a crashed vehicle that ejected a male and a female—both of whom were pronounced dead at the scene—and investigators suspect excessive speed, lack of seatbelt use, and open alcohol containers contributed to the crash. - ➤ On Tuesday morning, a vehicle crashed on Stink Creek Road near the Logan City Landfill — killing two people — as confirmed by the Cache County Sheriff's Office. The Herald Journal

- ➤ Smithfield man and former officer Robert Donald Levan, 66, was arrested after a Ukrainian 15-year-old boy reported that he secretly filmed the boy using the bathroom and now faces charges of four counts of sexual exploitation of a minor, 15 counts of voyeurism and one count of stalking — police have recovered multiple long video recordings from July. - ➤ Workers in Utah face a large pay gap as a study by Artios found that the state’s minimum wage of $7.25 is much lower than the approximately $23.91 needed to cover basic costs—placing Utah fourth in the nation for wage gaps; many low-wage workers, including single parents, must work extra jobs to make ends meet—adding strain to local families. - ➤ Bear Lake Valley Convention and Visitor Bureau received $62,157 in state funds—part of a record $10.8 million grant program announced last week in Hailey—to boost marketing for the area’s scenic trails, turquoise waters and family-friendly recreation, and the funds will help draw visitors from Cache Valley and the Wasatch Front.
