ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Firefighters battled the Perry Fire, a wildfire that ignited Thursday evening near Sardine Canyon on US-89/91 close to Mantua Reservoir — part of the Uinta-Wasatch-Cache National Forest. The blaze burned about 1.5 acres of timber with no structures damaged as two engines, a five-person squad, a helicopter, and a 20-person crew assisted in the efforts.  Cache Valley Daily
  • New fire restrictions began on Aug.8 in the Uinta-Wasatch-Cache and Ashley national forests to reduce fire risks amid worsening drought.
