  • Motorists traveling through Logan Canyon should expect traffic delays as ranchers will drive over 1,300 head of cattle across U.S. Highway 89 daily from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. starting today until Friday, Aug 15—drivers are advised to slow down and take extra care on steep curves.  Cache Valley Daily

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • Emergency crews were called Monday afternoon to an off-road dirt bike crash along Monte Cristo Road on SR-39 when a 55-year-old rider suffered a bloody nose and abrasions; search and rescue stabilized him and paramedics used a medical helicopter to take him to McKay Dee Hospital in Ogden—authorities said the cause is under investigation.  Cache Valley Daily
  • Emergency crews responded Monday afternoon after a 55-year-old man crashed his dirt bike near the border of Cache and Weber counties along Monte Cristo Road at 2:30 p.m. — responders stabilized him before a medical helicopter took him to McKay Dee Hospital — while the crash cause is under investigation.  KVNU

  • Cake it Easy is opening tomorrow at 1300 North 200 East Suite 108 — a family-owned gluten-free bakery started by Amy Fochs and Whitney Starks — and will offer a rotating menu of cakes, cupcakes, cookies and grab-and-go treats for local customers.  KVNU
  • Chelsea and Caylee Funk opened The Alley on Center in Logan about two years ago to give local artists a space for art and music events — the venue now hosts live shows and art exhibits — and it continues to be a creative hub.  The Herald Journal

CRIME NEWS

  • Loren Carlton McCarty, a 62-year-old homeless man with four prior stalking convictions, was sentenced on Monday to up to five years in prison (with credit for 67 days served) for stalking a volunteer from the William A. Burnard Warming Center in Logan by repeatedly sending over 200 text messages daily along with flowers and letters despite her requests to stop.  KVNU
  • A 62 year old homeless man, Loren Carlton McCarty, was sentenced on Monday in Logan’s 1st District Court to a term of up to five years for stalking a volunteer at the William A. Burnard Warming Center—he repeatedly sent more than 200 text messages daily and delivered unwanted flowers and letters despite her requests to stop.  Cache Valley Daily

CULTURE NEWS

  • Four Seasons Theatre Company in Smithfield announced its 2026 season after closing Blithe Spirit on August 9, selecting Peter and the Starcatcher for spring, Frozen: The Broadway Musical for summer at the Ellen Eccles Theatre in Logan, Once Upon a Mattress for fall, and White Christmas for the holiday season & all shows except Frozen will take place at Sky View High School. Audience input in July helped shape the lineup.  KVNU
