- ➤ A 44-year-old Smithfield man, Chad Hurren Saunders, was charged with automobile homicide after he allegedly hit and killed a pedestrian in a Logan parking lot Saturday night — he was arraigned on Monday and is set to appear in court again on August 25 with a potential sentence of up to 15 years. - ➤ City officials approved a controversial conditional use permit for a residential treatment facility in the fashionable Cliffside neighborhood that will house up to 12 residents. Neighbors represented by attorney J. Brett Chambers filed an administrative appeal and temporary restraining order after being excluded from the public process—an appeal hearing is set for Sept. 15 at City Hall. KVNU
