COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Isabella Corona, a five-year-old UIE International Queen in the princess division, is helping her community with two service projects—she raised money selling cotton candy to buy school supplies for teachers and is preparing meal kits for kids while also donating clothes and shoes to children in Mexico.  Cache Valley Daily

CULTURE NEWS

  • The Howell/Theurer home in Wellsville (built in 1869) was extensively remodeled by the Brandt family and became the highlight of the 2025 Historic Home Tour, now featuring a single-family design with a large family room and a park-like backyard for local gatherings.  KVNU

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Utah State University was named among the top 100 colleges for tuition dollars by Washington Monthly, ranking 90th nationwide — the best public institution in Utah. Interim President Alan L. Smith said the ranking showed USU’s commitment to offering quality education across its campuses and extension programs.  KVNU
  • On Friday, September 12, over 400 students attended the Dare Mighty things —Together! Summit at Utah State University where Erin Clark delivered a keynote on human-centered leadership and the importance of leading with love. A panel discussion led by Kristyn Allred followed to add student insights on collaborative success.  Cache Valley Daily

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Local volunteers and community groups will join Utah State University Water Quality Extension's Pack It Out Utah cleanup this September — an effort held annually since 2020 to remove trash from trails and waterways. The event will see local governments, nonprofits, and organizations working together to help keep our environment healthy.  Cache Valley Daily

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Utah Department of Commerce has launched the new Office of the Homeowners’ Association Ombudsman to help homeowners navigate community association issues and enforce new registry rules from HB217. Erin Rider, JD/MBA, leads the office with her team to offer advisory opinions and educational sessions—especially helping Cache Valley communities adjust to these changes.  Cache Valley Daily
  • Today, the Utah Department of Commerce launched the Office of the Homeowners’ Association Ombudsman to help homeowners and associations understand their rights and responsibilities under state law. Erin Rider, JD/MBA, directs the office, which will manage an annual HOA registry, offer advisory opinions and educational sessions, and require associations to re-register to enforce liens—efforts that aim to strengthen trust in community oversight.  KVNU

HEALTH NEWS

  • September marks National Family Meals Month and Utah State University Extension’s Create Better Health Utah program says families should aim to share meals five or more times a week to boost nutrition, emotional and social growth, academics, and behavior. Families can start slowly by sharing one or two meals weekly and following tips like scheduled meal times and shared meal planning—helping to build lasting traditions at home.  Cache Valley Daily
