EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Utah State University will continue the Aggie Advantage Grant for Fall 2026 to help new students pay for college. Students who complete the FAFSA by Feb. 1, enroll for at least one credit by May 1 and meet full-time status in early Fall will get $500, with an extra $500 if their Student Aid Index is 8,000 or below. - ➤ Larry Williams resigned as Logan School Board President effective Sept. 24 and Vice President Frank Stewart immediately took over the role — the board will appoint an interim member by reviewing applications due Oct. 8 and holding interviews on Oct. 14. Cache Valley Daily
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Cache County Council voted to raise the pay of some elected officials on Tuesday—excluding its own members and the county attorney—in a unanimous decision. The Herald Journal
- ➤ Four taxing entities in Cache County — including the Cache County School District — were denied proposed property tax hikes by the State Tax Commission for not meeting the new Truth-in-Taxation Law requirements. The decision, announced on Sept. 16, means the school district will miss out on over $6 million, with a typical home facing about $130 more in taxes. KVNU

- ➤ Cameron Walker has been named Utah State's 13th athletics director and will officially take over on Oct. 6. He plans to boost football attendance and prepare the department for a Pac—12 move using his experience from UCF and Tennessee. Cache Valley Daily
