CULTURE NEWS

  • Utah Theatre in downtown Logan will host a month-long Halloween film fest in October that shows movies like Gremlins and The Rocky Horror Picture Show—screenings start at 7 p.m. on most nights. The festival also features Nosferatu with live pipe organ music—providing a special treat for local viewers.  KVNU

EDUCATION NEWS

  • USU completed an eight-month review of its Statewide Enterprise with nearly 800 faculty, staff and students to better serve local communities. In the coming months, USU will release detailed plans that expand community-engaged programming—new budget models will support equity and greater investment in faculty and staff.  KVNU

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • The Utah Division of Wildlife Resources invites Logan families to learn about nocturnal animals at a free Night Life exhibit at the Hardware Wildlife Education Center in Cache County. The exhibit runs on three weekends in October (Oct. 3-5, Oct. 17-19 and Oct. 24-26) from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and is located 15 miles west of Hyrum on state Route 101 in Blacksmith Fork Canyon.  Cache Valley Daily

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Logan City's mayoral and council candidates invite residents to a moderated discussion about the city's future scheduled for 7 p.m. Oct. 2 at Utah Theatre — the event will offer voters a chance to learn about the candidates' plans.  The Herald Journal
  • Today, Turning Point USA holds its first major memorial event at USU—Dee Glen Smith Spectrum at 6:30 p.m. featuring conservative commentator Alex Clark and a panel including Gov. Spencer Cox, Sen. Mike Lee, Rep. Biggs and former congressman Jason Chaffetz to honor founder Charlie Kirk, who was killed on Sept. 10, with strict security measures planned for the event.  KVNU

HEALTH NEWS

  • The Utah Department of Agriculture and Food warns consumers about ready-to-eat pasta meals linked to a listeria outbreak that killed four people (one in Utah) and advises checking for recall updates.  The Herald Journal
