COMMUNITY NEWS

  • St. John’s Episcopal Church in Logan will host a Blessing of the Animals event on Saturday, Oct. 4 at 1:00 p.m.—community members and their pets can receive a blessing while donating Science Diet food for Cache Humane Society.  Cache Valley Daily

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Utah Division of Outdoor Recreation awarded $1.78 million in grants to 30 off-highway vehicle projects that will improve trail maintenance, search and rescue, education and winter grooming. Northern Utah projects include winter grooming in Logan Canyon, a snowmobiling marketing campaign in Cache Valley and new e-bikes for Cache County Search and Rescue—which will help boost safe riding, and the next grant cycle will open on Jan. 15.  Cache Valley Daily
  • Due to a lapse in appropriations, the Logan Ranger District Office is closed until further notice—leaving Cache County residents without access to its usual services.  The Herald Journal
  • On Sept. 30, thousands gathered at Utah State University in Logan for a Turning Point USA event where conservative commentator Alex Clark passed on Charlie Kirk’s legacy—urging the audience to move forward in a time of deep division. University officials had shifted the event venue after some liberal faculty questioned holding the free speech event following Kirk’s death.  KVNU

HEALTH NEWS

  • Earlier this month the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s Advisory Committee on Immunization changed the COVID-19 vaccination process in Cache County—residents can now follow the updated guidance to get their vaccine, booster or additional dose.  The Herald Journal
