- ➤ At St. John's Episcopal Church in Logan on Saturday, residents and their pets attended the annual Blessing of the Animals—Bishop Phyllis Spiegel led a service that welcomed pets from border collies to ball pythons. The Herald Journal
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Utah State University's Utah Women & Leadership Project recently published a research brief that shows fertility and marital trends in Utah from 1970—2023. The study uses state and national data to compare trends and advises policymakers to support families as cultural and economic factors change. Cache Valley Daily
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ UDAF reported that 14 horses across 11 counties have been infected with West Nile Virus, with five in Box Elder and three in Cache, and six horses were euthanized. State Veterinarian Amanda Price urged horse owners to vaccinate their animals — the best way to protect against a disease that often leads to expensive treatment and severe outcomes. - ➤ A new study published in Applied Physiology, Nutrition, and Metabolism shows that eating animal protein is not linked to a higher risk of death and may lower cancer risk—researchers analyzed data from nearly 16,000 adults. Utah State University Extension beef cattle specialist David Secrist said the findings help clear up confusion about protein for people of all ages. Cache Valley Daily
