- ➤ Logan Parks - Recreation officials will hold the first-ever Broomsticks-Boogie Witches Dance and Halloween Festival on Saturday, Oct. 25 at the Carol and Jim Laub Plaza from 5 to 8 p.m. The free event will feature local witches dancing at 6:30, 7 and 7:30 p.m, live music by Heywire from 5 to 7 p.m, food trucks, craft events, a Decorated Pumpkin contest, a costume contest and a free screening of Monster House at the Utah Theatre. - ➤ Logan Parks and Recreation will host its first Broomsticks and Boogie Witches Dance and Halloween Festival on Oct. 25 at Carol and Jim Laub Plaza on Main Street with free activities including a witches dance at 6:30, 7 and 7:30 p.m.—The festival will also offer live music by Heywire, food trucks, craft events, a decorated pumpkin contest, a costume contest for youngsters, and a free movie at 8 p.m. at Utah Theatre. - ➤ Smithfield Historical Society will host retired teacher Kenny Mays who will speak about British settlers and LDS missions at the Smithfield Senior Citizen Center on Oct. 11 at 7 p.m. An exhibit of his photographic collection will open an hour earlier—offering local residents a visual look at historic sites. EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Utah State University recently hosted Girls in Aviation Day to let young girls try hands-on aviation activities such as operating aircraft controls & flying drones. The event, started by Women Aviation International, featured local industry professionals to inspire future pilots. Cache Valley Daily
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Authorities in Logan are urging residents to safely dispose of unwanted medications at Spence's Pharmacy on Oct. 25 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.—the event is jointly sponsored by local police and federal agencies to help reduce drug misuse and protect public safety. Cache Valley Daily
- ➤ The Cache County Clerk’s office said ballots will start arriving Tuesday, Oct 14 and must be returned by 8 p.m. Tuesday, Nov 4; voters in Logan must use official drop boxes as postmarks are no longer accepted — under the new state law. KVNU
- ➤ On Monday, the Cache County Council of Governments heard final presentations on countywide road projects at the packed Cache County Administration Building—local representatives shared details to guide upcoming improvements. - ➤ Utah State University Extension will host the 8th annual Celebrating Wellness Conference on Saturday, Oct. 18 at the USU campus in Kaysville.
