COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Mountain Valley Heating and Air Conditioning in Wellsville installed five free furnaces for families last Thursday using donated Lennox equipment—helping local residents including a single mother in Logan. The company will host a fundraising dinner at Riverwoods Conference Center—615 Riverwoods Parkway on Monday Oct. 13 to raise money for future giveaways.  Cache Valley Daily
  • Cache Valley Marine Corps Reserve's Toys for Tots is searching for a new space in Logan because storing everything in a shed limits their ability to help nearly 2,400 children as Christmas approaches. The charity needs a location with at least 700 square feet—ideally a warehouse with a loading dock—to better serve the local community.  KVNU
  • Officials will host Logan’s annual 'Trunk or Treat' on Halloween, Friday, Oct 31 from 3 to 5 p.m. in the Logan Police Department east parking lot at 62 West — 300 North. The event is jointly sponsored by city fire, police, public works and parks and recreation to provide a safe trick-or-treat option for local children.  KVNU

  • Marissa Nielsen surprised her father Greg Wickles at her wedding by inviting her three older sisters to join the dance — a moment that created a warm memory for the family.  KVNU

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • WalletHub’s 2025 report shows that Utah ranked as the fifth-safest state in America, with high marks in disaster resilience, road safety, and job security — the study compared 52 safety measures across all 50 states.  Cache Valley Daily
  • Logan officials announced that for Columbus Day on Monday, Oct. 13, all city offices will be closed except the office at Carol and Jim Laub Plaza and the community recreation center, while residential garbage service, the city landfill, and Logan River Golf Course remain open. The Logan Library and City Cemetery Office will be closed for the holiday—residents can call 435-716-9000 for details.  KVNU
  • At an Oct. 7 meeting, Logan City Council heard strong opinions from residents on planned improvements along Canyon Road—over 800 survey responses showed 60% oppose adding north side sidewalks. City officials will combine water pipeline upgrades and roadway changes in the project, and Mayor Holly Daines said the survey will be one data point in deciding next steps.  KVNU
