- ➤ Mountain Valley Heating in Wellsville installed five free furnaces for families after receiving 70 nominations, finishing the work on Oct. 9. The company will host a fundraiser — Feel the Love — at Riverwoods Conference Center in Logan on Oct. 13 to raise funds for next year's program. KVNU
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The Cache County Library, led by director Brynnan Sainsbury, took to social media on Thursday evening — asking locals to support the library as it faces possible defunding. This plea comes amid news that funding cuts may soon affect its services. The Herald Journal
- ➤ About 820 Logan residents expressed their views on Canyon Road after a city waterline installation project — most oppose a sidewalk and favor more trees. City officials will use the survey feedback to guide future design decisions. The Herald Journal
- ➤ At their Oct. 7 meeting, Logan Municipal Council discussed a plan to invest in an Iron County solar power project — the project will generate power in December with a 10-megawatt solar output and 5 megawatts of battery storage at a fixed cost over 25 years. Mark Montgomery of Logan Light & Power explained that this investment may help balance the city's energy needs as coal-fired capacity declines. Cache Valley Daily
