COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Downtown Logan will host the annual Halloween Treat Walk on October 31 as costumed children and families visit businesses open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The event takes place along Main and Center Streets in the historic district—promising a festive, safe outing.  KVNU
  • Today, Aggie Homecoming final events include a Friday night football game against San Jose State at 7 p.m. on Merlin Olsen Field and tailgate activities at the Aggie Recreation Center with a homecoming dance at the George Nelson Fieldhouse. Saturday will feature a parade on Main Street with noted grand marshals and a Running of the Bulls 5K starting at 8:30 a.m. on campus—marking the celebration's close.  KVNU
  • A protest organized by WeThePeopleCacheValley will take place on Saturday from 1—2:30 p.m. at the Cache County Historic Courthouse in Logan as part of the No Kings demonstration, where local residents can express their opinions.  The Herald Journal

CULTURE NEWS

  • The Utah Theatre in downtown Logan will show a series of films by Thomas C. Christensen throughout November. The screening starts on Nov. 1 with a short film and a feature and will run with showings at 7 p.m. through Nov. 28.  KVNU

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Utah State University has introduced new flight and air traffic control simulators — including a 737 jet simulator with a 220-degree wraparound screen and a nearby air traffic control module — that double the training capacity for safer skies; enrollment in the air traffic control minor has grown from 36 to over 100 students.  KVNU
  • At Utah State University, the Student Nutrition Access Center in the Taggert Student Center has seen student visits jump from 700 a week to 6,000 in one month. The center offers free food, fresh produce, dairy and hygiene items to students, faculty and staff — a safety net that many say helps meet a basic need.  Cache Valley Daily

  • Residents, elected officials and political candidates met at the Logan Library on Wednesday to share hopes, concerns and solutions about affordability—non-profit representatives also presented proposals to address rising costs.  The Herald Journal

HEALTH NEWS

  • Cache Valley Imaging hosted an open house at its Providence location on Thursday afternoon—attendees met the staff and viewed the new outpatient mammography equipment.  The Herald Journal
