- ➤ LOGAN - The Cache Community Food Pantry is getting ready to help more families as SNAP benefits end on Nov. 1 due to the government shutdown—if the shutdown continues, the number of families needing assistance could triple from 2,000 to over 6,000. The pantry urgently seeks food and money donations to gather supplies before closing on Thanksgiving, Nov. 27. Cache Valley Daily

- ➤ Tina Oakden opened her first vintage store—Vixens Vintage—in Hyde Park in September and fills the space with unique clothes and jewelry from flea markets that let visitors express themselves. The shop is open Tuesday through Saturday from 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and Oakden plans to expand her vision by decorating a hearse with her logo. KVNU
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ A survey by Trio.dev on October 28 showed that 92% of Utahns believe jobs such as doctors, teachers, and judges must remain led by humans, with 75% trusting people more for handling sensitive data—only 35% feeling comfortable with AI managing emergency calls. One in ten local managers also said they would replace workers with AI, pointing to a clear local preference for human judgment. KVNU
- ➤ Gov. Spencer Cox announced Tuesday the completion of the master plan for the Utah Trail Network, a system that will eventually link 3,100 miles of paved trails, 208 towns, 33 universities, six national parks, and 25 state parks. The plan includes 2,600 miles of new trails and 500 miles of existing paths and has secured nearly $95 million in first-round funding for 19 projects—one in Cache Valley for the Blacksmith Fork River Trail set to begin next spring.
