This Thanksgiving, food safety experts warn that common turkey myths—such as thawing on the counter, rinsing the bird, relying on pop-up timers, and stuffing inside the turkey—are unsafe and can lead to bacterial growth; they advise thawing in the refrigerator, using a food thermometer, cooking stuffing separately, and refrigerating leftovers within 2 hours. The guidelines aim to keep meals safe and prevent food poisoning.
