  • City officials announced a modified holiday schedule for the Carol and Jim Laub Plaza ice rink from Dec. 24 through Jan. 4 at 55 North Main Street. Residents will have limited hours on select dates, with 90 skater sessions, discounted pricing, and Monday Family Nights offering free skate rentals.  Cache Valley Daily

CULTURE NEWS

  • Downtown Logan’s Utah Theatre will stage A Year with Frog and Toad after New Year's Day: 1 p.m. shows on Jan. 2, 3, and 10, evening shows on Jan. 6 and 8, and Cache Valley children performing on Jan. 6 — 10; the musical brings Arnold Lobel's characters to life.  KVNU

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Sheriff Chad Jensen advised county residents that Winter and Elbow Canyon roads near Clarkston are limited to pedestrians, hikers, bikers, or horseback riders as legal disputes continue. Residents should follow the guidelines because off-road travel may be deemed trespassing (contact local authorities as needed).  KVNU

  • The American Red Cross urges drivers to check weather, plan routes and pack emergency kits for holiday travel as cold and snowy conditions may occur; Keith Paul advises Logan residents to use caution on the roads.  Cache Valley Daily
  • After a Nibley store began selling kratom, the Bear River Health Department warned residents that high doses can act like opioids and pose health risks. Health Educator Natalie Tippets said lawmakers will consider new regulations in the 2026 session — a move aimed at boosting safety.  Cache Valley Daily
