Polls closed at 8 p.m., but Cache County voters were still waiting to cast ballots. Reporter Brock Marchant said Behm estimated it would take about an hour to get everyone through. USU political science professor Damon Cann said long lines have become less common over the past decade as more voters mail ballots.

  • New rule: ballots must arrive by Election Day, not just be postmarked
  • Results hold: until statewide waits fell below 15 minutes, or 9 p.m.
  • Count: outstanding ballots are tallied over the next two weeks

Counties are expected to certify by Nov. 17, and the state on Nov. 23

  1. Nov. 3Polls close at 8 p.m. across Utah.
  2. Nov. 17Counties are expected to certify their results.
  3. Nov. 23Statewide certification is scheduled.

Want to follow the count? Voters can use the Cache County website or the state's election results website.
