CRIME NEWS
- ➤ A 27-year-old Logan man, Trevor Bret Aslett, was sentenced May 19 to 244 days in jail with credit for 85 days served—followed by 36 months probation—for stalking, possession of a firearm by a restricted person, controlled substance possession and violating a protective order after sending threatening messages that harassed a victim and her family, with the judge also ordering a no-contact condition. - ➤ The Utah Board of Higher Education has named a nine-member committee to lead the search for USU’s next president + the group will begin work soon. The Herald Journal
- ➤ High school students are choosing trade schools over college for faster skill training — they can earn up to $70,000 after graduation. KVNU
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ The Utah Division of Outdoor Recreation awarded a record $23.2M in grants to fund 142 outdoor recreation projects across all 29 counties — with over $1.3M allocated to projects in Cache, Box Elder and Rich counties. The funding came through UORG, OHVR and RTP and marked a historic milestone for public lands and local community investments. KVNU
